The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) in Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) have announced the completion of the 3.5km Bani Yas – Al Heeliya Road at a cost of $14.7 million.
The road will serve the residential areas located next to it and will facilitate the travel for students from Higher Colleges of Technology and improve the traffic flow between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, according to a press statement. The new road will link Al Heeliya area to Al Moazaz and Al Shamkha south by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Road (E311).
For the implementation of the project, 78 traffic boards, 12 signages and 121 LED lights were put into place, while ITC said that one of the main challenges of the project was maintaining the traffic flow during road-works.
Musanada stated that more than 350 engineers, consultants and workers participated in the implementation of the project, and that it has been executed according to the highest standards and practises.
ITC also expressed that this project is a milestone in creating an integrated infrastructure for Abu Dhabi’s economic, tourism, and social objectives, as well as in improving the quality of life. It stated that its partnership with Musanada is a significant factor in implementing and developing projects that keep up with urban development and population increase.
Musanada also said that it has strived to conserve energy and decrease the operating cost of the project as well as follow environmental safety requirements, as needed.
